Healthcare is not the first industry that comes to mind when you hear the word "hospitality," but after you hear from Tulane professors Sherif Ebrahim and Claire Senot, and Ellis Arjmand of Children's Hospital New Orleans, you'll realize that perhaps it should. From the moment you make an appointment, to the experience when you are at the hospital, to treatment, recovery and followups, hospital leaders are finding it increasingly important to take a customer-centric, empathy-driven and technology-empowered approach to care. As you listen in on this panel, you'll find that you're in good hands. Professor Ebrahim brings more than 29 years of high-profile chief executive and professional experience to this discussion, and he is also a board-certified health care executive, the president and CEO of Strategic Management Group and managing partner of SMG Capital. Ellis Arjmand, MD, PhD, MMM, who was recently appointed to the newly created position of Surgeon-in-Chief at Children's Hospital, is nationally known for his expertise in the areas of health care quality improvement and health economics. He has come to New Orleans from Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, where he developed and led the largest practice in his specialty in the nation. Professor Senot studies the potential trade-off and relationship between technical quality of care and patient experience using both case studies and large-scale data. Her work has been published in many prestigious academic and practitioner-oriented publications, including the Harvard Business Review.
