Just as we expect our education system to provide a foundation in reading and numeracy, basic education must include a comprehension of computers, and the principles of computer science. Computer literacy is literacy. Furthermore, although we are all aware of the fact that technology is inextricably intertwined into every facet of our lives, we take our exposure to it for granted.

This presentation will give attendees a moment to confront how all of us allow inequality in its many forms (gender, socio-economic, and racial) to blind us to the fact that our education system does not teach that which is most required to succeed in life: computational thinking skills.
