Ochsner Innovation Stage

We all know about the gender pay gap: women get paid 80 cents on the dollar that men get paid for the same work. But did you know about the gender investment gap? Women-founded companies get two cents of each gender investment dollar. Even gender-diverse founding teams only get another 12 percent. All-male teams get 86 percent of all venture capital invested. This is despite recent data showing that returns are better for both women-only and gender-diverse founding teams than for male-only ones. This situation is even worse for founders of color. This panel will present three approaches to fixing the gender investment gap.

+ Leslie Jump, Founder and Managing Partner, Different Funds, will help us answer the question: Can big data help us overcome gender bias in venture?

+ Natalia Oberti Noguera, Founder and CEO, Pipeline Angels, will share how building a broader and more inclusive angel community creates a broader and more inclusive portfolio.

+ K. Shelly Porges, Founder and Managing Partner, The Billion Dollar Fund for Women, moderator, will share her experience in mobilizing $700 million in pledges in five months to tackle the gender funding gap.

+ Tina Eskridge, Member, Pipeline Angels, will speak to her experience and share how individuals with diverse backgrounds can accelerate the democratization of angel investing
