New Orleans native Nesby Phips has an internationally-inspired sound that draws from the New Orleans blues, jazz and gospel traditions of his great aunt, Mahalia Jackson. Phips is respected throughout the industry as a musical hybrid, rapping with and producing for some of today's brightest talents, including Curren$y, Wiz Khalifa, Fiend, Aaron Neville, Trombone Shorty, Juvenile, Lil Wayne and Mack Maine. In February 2015, Nesby Phips co-headlined a show at New Orleans's famed jazz venue, Preservation Hall, along with No Limit recording star, Fiend. As co-founder of the 0017th record label out of the New Orleans neighborhood of Hollygrove and Director of the Mahalia Jackson estate, he continues to serve as an ambassador to the city for documentarians, writers and filmmakers traveling to New Orleans to document the art, music and culture of the city. Since 2014 Phips has joined forces with The Grid Band taking his live performance to a new level. This addition to his arsenal has brought about bigger stages such as Jazz & Heritage festival, Tipitinas and the Off Beat awards. His recent ventures in business has expanded his media company Audacious Creative by providing services ranging from music supervision for television and film to digital photo booths in the greater New Orleans area.
