Stirling Barrett is the creative director and founder of KREWE, a New Orleans-based and culturally inspired eyewear brand that celebrates individual style with modern iconic frames. After beginning his career as a photographer, Barrett began KREWE in 2013 with $30,000 in earnings from his arts and photography business. In 2016, he was chosen as a CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund Runner-Up, a feat that garnered KREWE an international audience, as well as attention from celebrities like Beyonce, Gigi Hadid, Meghan Markle, and Kendall Jenner. In 2019, Barrett was named to the Forbes 30 under 30 list of the most influential innovators in art & style. Today, under Barrett's leadership, KREWE remains a self-funded and profitable company with over 65 employees and more than $15 million in revenue. KREWE’s sun and optical eyewear is sold at its stores in New Orleans’ French Quarter and Lower Garden District, in New York City’s Soho neighborhood, and in over 500 premier U.S. and global retailers. Deepening his commitment to New Orleans, Barrett also founded KREWE Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to changing the way New Orleans youth see the world by providing access to eye exams and free prescription eyewear to local public high school students.
